The first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We will talk about your current concerns, relevant history, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You’re welcome to share at your own pace—there is no expectation to cover everything in one session.
We will also review important information about confidentiality, policies, and the structure of therapy, and you will have time to ask any questions you may have. My goal is for the first session to feel supportive, collaborative, and focused on helping you determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
You don’t need to prepare anything, just come as you are.

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement if you have out-of-network mental health benefits. While I do not bill insurances directly, I provide superbills that include all the information typically required for reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement rates vary by plan.

I draw from several evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, CPT, and other trauma-informed and relational therapies. Treatment is always tailored to your needs rather than following a rigid model.
-
Evidence-based practices are therapeutic approaches that are supported by research and clinical expertise. These treatments have been carefully studied and shown to be effective for specific concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and eating disorders.
In my work, I integrate evidence-based practices with a collaborative, individualized approach. This means therapy is informed by research while also being tailored to your unique experiences, values, and goals.
Therapy is most effective when it is both grounded in research and responsive to the person in front of me.
-
In Oregon, adolescents ages 14 and older may consent to outpatient mental health treatment without parental permission. When working with teens, I value collaboration with caregivers and encourage supportive involvement whenever appropriate and with the adolescent’s knowledge and consent.

Finding the right therapeutic fit is important. The consultation call is a chance to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether working together feels comfortable and aligned. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, I’m happy to offer referrals when possible.
